Climate Crisis Parade Announces Speakers

The four speakers include Tyler LaMere and Keely Driscoll. LaMere is a Winnebago activist from Nebraska. Driscoll is a member of the Meskwaki nation and a student of international studies at the University of Iowa. Isabelle Brace is co-state Iowa lead for Iowa Climate Strike, and Ako Abdul-Samad is the director of Creative Visions.

Climate Crisis Parade challenges mainstream media

A coalition of 37 organizations just announced a major climate initiative, to be held a couple days prior to the Iowa Caucuses. Scheduled for Saturday, February 1 at 12:00 noon, the Climate Crisis Parade calls out the mainstream media for ignoring the urgency of the climate crisis. Here are three things you can do: 1. Join the effort on Facebook and share it with others. 2. Sign-up to participate through Eventbrite and we'll keep you posted with updates. 3. September 1 – 8, 2018 Landowners who had their property taken by force for the Dakota Access Pipeline have joined with the Iowa Sierra Club in a lawsuit against the Iowa Utilities Board (IUB). They allege that the IUB illegally allowed Energy Transfer Partners (ETP) to use eminent domain to build the Dakota Access Pipeline. Their case is strong and has potentially historic significance. Dear Friends, To build momentum for the People’s Climate Movement, Bold Iowa and its partners are organizing an eight-day, 80-mile Climate Justice Unity March. Marchers will set out from Indigenous Iowa’s Little Creek Camp near Millersburg on April 22 and arrive at the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines at 1:00 p.m. on April 29 for a huge rally.
